US Coast Guard Certificate of Regulatory Compliance:
The AMS chemical testing program has been reviewed by the US Coast Guard and “judged to be in compliance with the US Coast Guard’s chemical testing regulations found in 46 CFR Part 4, 5 and 16.”
We focus exclusively on maritime chemical testing and our “team” of administrators and lawyers are well versed in the US Coast Guard regulations and always cognizant of the unique nature of the industry and the specific needs of our members.
Qualifications & Certifications:
SAMHSA Accredited Laboratory Services: our laboratory has been certified by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Agency (“SAMHSA”). Laboratories are not permitted to perform any DOT and US Coast Guard drug testing services unless these entities have been evaluated and accredited by
SAMHSA.
Medical Review Officer Services (“MRO”): the MRO is the medical physician/ toxicologist who reviews and verifies drug test results. Our MRO is certified by the American Association of Medical Review Officers (“AAMRO”) in the field of medical review of DOT and US Coast Guard drug testing. The DOT and the US Coast Guard will not permit physicians to perform MRO functions in the maritime industry unless they receive certification from AAMRO, which is a nationally-recognized certification board (49 CFR Part 40.121).
Specimen Collection Sites (“SCS”): We have over 6000 specimen collection facilities throughout the US. Members can schedule appointments for pre-employment, periodic and return to duty testing at these facilities;
Specimen Collection Agents (“SCA”): when vessels are randomly selected for testing, our SCAs are available to conduct on site specimen collections at our members’ facilities or onboard their vessels. This service can be provided in all the major ports throughout the US and aboard. Our SCAs have been trained and certifies pursuant to the DOT regulation, 49 CFR Part 40, section 40.33.
The AMS Consortium (“AMS”): AMS was awarded a US Coast Guard Letter of Regulatory Compliance which evidences that the US Coast Guard has reviewed the AMS chemical testing program and “judged it to be in compliance with the Coast Guard’s chemical testing regulations found in Title 46 of the Code of Federal Regulations.”
