About Our Company

American Maritime Safety, Inc., (“AMS”) is a non-profit and tax exempt maritime trade association established in 1988 in Manhattan, New York, to facilitate the maritime industry’s compliance with the following international shipping protocols and US Coast Guard regulations:
 

Membership in the AMS Consortium provides maritime organizations with services that form an integral part of what the US Coast Guard and the US Department of Transportation require in a drug and alcohol testing program.

The AMS consortium administers a drug and alcohol testing compliance program for the following organizations and maritime entities:

  • Cruise ship operators;
  • Passenger vessel operators;
  • Dry-bulk vessel operators;
  • LNG vessel operators;
  • Tug and Barge operators;
  • Offshore drilling rigs and offshore supply vessels (OSV);
  • Charter boat operators;
  • The US Maritime Colleges;
  • The large US seafarer unions.
